One plan. The whole family.
How one plan covers everyone you share with, and how to cover your family after you upgrade.
The basics
What does my family get when I upgrade?
Your plan can cover anyone you share a Circle with. Your immediate family is covered automatically, and you choose who else. Everyone you cover can:
- Post videos to their Circles, not just photos.
- Email Newsletters to the people they love, including relatives who never open the app.
- Use your plan’s storage, 50 GB on Premium or 250 GB on Premium Plus, shared by the whole family.
Does everyone in my family need to pay?
No. Only one person needs a plan. They can cover as many family members as they like, with no per-person fees.
Does my family need to do anything?
No. The people you cover get a notification that you covered them, and video and Newsletters just start working for them.
Do Newsletter readers need a plan?
No. People who read your Newsletters by email never need an account or a plan.
Covering your family
How do I cover my family after I upgrade?
Everything happens in the Crossli app on your iPhone.
- Your immediate family is covered for you. Everyone in your innermost Circle, the one for your immediate family, is covered as soon as you upgrade. So is anyone who joins it later.
- Cover a whole Circle. Open More › Circles and choose a Circle. Turn on “Cover new members with my plan,” and say yes when Crossli asks whether to also cover the people already there.
- Or cover one person at a time. In a Circle, tap Members, then “Cover with my plan” next to someone’s name. When someone new joins, you can also tap “Add to my plan” on their join in Activity.
- See who you cover. Open More › Plan & usage. Covered family lists the people on your plan and how much room they use.
Who can I cover?
Anyone who shares a Circle with you. Each person is covered by one plan at a time. If a relative already covered someone, you’ll see “Covered by” and their name instead of a button.
Can more than one person in the family pay?
Yes. Each relative with a plan can cover different people, for example one per side of the family. There’s no way to split one bill for now. Apple’s rules for in-app purchases make that tricky, so it’s on our list for later.
What if someone already has their own plan?
They keep it. Their photos and videos use their own storage, not yours, and you’ll see “Has their own plan” next to their name.
Can I cover my family during a free trial?
Yes. If you start a free trial, your family is covered from its first day, so everyone sees what Crossli can do.
Storage and changes
How does the shared storage work?
Your photos and videos, and those of everyone you cover, add up against your plan: 50 GB on Premium, 250 GB on Premium Plus. If it fills up, you can remove someone from your plan, or move from Premium to Premium Plus for more room. The people you cover see a note to check with you, so they’re never asked to pay.
How do I stop covering someone, and what happens to them?
Open More › Plan & usage and remove them from Covered family.
They go back to the Free plan. Everything they already shared stays, including their videos and past Newsletters. They can keep sharing photos up to Free’s 15 GB. Posting new videos and sending Newsletters need a plan again.
What if someone leaves the Circle we share?
Coverage lasts while you share at least one Circle. When the last one you share ends, they go back to the Free plan, just as if you’d removed them.
